What is Practice Partner's Tuner?

Practice Partner's Tuner

Practice Partner's Tuner is a full featured Tuner, capable of far more than nearly every Tuner available today. The Tuner is used to display graphically how close a monosonic (single notes - not chords) audio sample, at any particular point in time, is to a predetermined reference pitch.

The Tuner can be used to:

  • Display the accuracy of the pitch of a musical sound sample (tuned) relevant to an established calibration with an accuracy of 1 cent (1/100 of a semitone)
  • The audio sample can be either from a live source or from an audio file
  • Continuous or single audio samples can be analyzed for their tuning accuracy
  • The calibration of the reference frequency can be adjusted from Baroque pitch to Contemporary and beyond (A=410Hz to A=469Hz)
  • The display can be either in semitones or quartertones
  • The display can be adjusted according to an instrument's transposition
  • The background noise level can be adjusted (reduced)

How does the Tuner help me?

Using the Tuner regularly can help you to make any necessary changes or improvements in your tuning and, over time, improve your ear's ability to sense accurate intonation, which is of course a very important aspect of your practice.
