What is Practice Partner's Keyboard?

Practice Partner's Keyboard

Practice Partner's Keyboard displays a six octave piano keyboard that can be used in far more ways than a conventional piano keyboard.

The Keyboard can be used to:

  • Sound musical notes by means of a simulated piano keyboard
  • The notes can by sounded in 128 different timbres (sound colours)
  • A sequence of notes can be recorded and / or saved for later playback
  • The pitch of the notes sounded can be adjusted by any amount from 0.5 of a semitone (quartertone) to less than 0.0001 of a semitone (1/10000)
  • The volume of the keyboard notes is adjustable

How does the Keyboard help me?

The Keyboard is extremely useful to help train your ears to hear and recognize such basic things as musical intervals (5ths, minor 3rds, etc.) as well as to be able to hear more subtle differences in pitch (for example, one note very slightly sharper than another). Your intonation will thus be improved, which is obviously very important to any performance.

The Keyboard also has the ability to record and save sequences of notes, equally tempered and / or tuned to any pitch (+/- 1/100 of a cent [1 cent=1/100 of a semitone], i.e. +/- 1/10000 [0.0001] of a semitone!), which can then be played back while you play / sing the same notes to help to improve your ability to play / sing in tune with other musicians, which is again obviously very important to any performance.
